how to have difficult conversations

We've all been there. Maybe you're in the office, maybe you're sitting at the dinner table with family, maybe you're being interviewed on BBC News, and people start repeating the same arguments about why the initial accommodation hotels show that people seeking asylum are unfair, here to claim benefits, a burden on the taxpayer, and getting preferential treatment over other people in the UK.

These arguments might not stick true.

You might not agree, but in the moment you're not sure what to say either.

We're in a housing crisis. People have understandable and legitimate concerns about the number of homeless people living on our streets. But that is not the fault of people who come here to seek safety.

So, we've written a guide that you can use for navigating difficult conversations about initial accommodation hotels with kindness, grace - and factual information. We hope it helps you to stop losing your head at your Aunty Susan.
