SUPPORT FOR LGBTQ+ REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS

We offer free, confidential online support and in-person support, in Brighton and Manchester, for LGBTQ+ displaced people.

IRIS, or International Rainbow Integration Service, is a free service for LGBTQ+ refugees, asylum seekers and migrants and those questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity. Set up in December 2023 by Switchboard, in partnership with Conversation Over Borders, it offers friendly, discreet, weekly social groups and one-to-one social prescribing support.

The aim is to support LGBTQ+ newcomers to the UK to help them adjust to their new surroundings, which may feel intimidating and difficult to navigate.

Community Roots is a project run in Manchester, connecting LGBTQ+ displaced people to the wider queer community. The project is run by Conversation Over Borders and Queer Roots Collective and takes place at Platt Fields Market Garden.
