messages of welcome

When the riots in the summer of 2024 led to hotels housing asylum seekers being targeted with arson, we put out a simple request: that members of the public send us messages of welcome for us to share with people affected by the attacks.

Over 3,000 people sent messages within two weeks. We have now delivered these messages to asylum seekers in 34 cities across the UK and the campaign has become a movement.

It's easy to GET INVOLVED

  • Write your own message below, and we'll give it to someone who has just arrived in the UK.

  • Download posters of the messages, and display them in your window.

  • Sign up for a Messages of Welcome workshop at your school, university or workplace to learn about the asylum system from one of our lived experience Ambassadors and write messages - or ask your old school or uni to host us, using our letter template.
